Mouthing and biting are common problems with all shih tzu puppies. It is recommended to control this mouthing habit of your shitzu at an early age

Usually a shi tzu mouths our hands when excited or when playing and puppies more often do this more to children than adults. And it is up to you to discourage this behavior of your puppy. Here are some techniques which might help you to train and socialize your puppy.

In the beginning, a shih-tzu will use his mouth to investigate his surroundings. During the teething process, it keeps the dog happy to chew on all kinds of items, no matter how hard it is.

Be sure to provide your shitzu puppies enough things he is allowed to chew on. It is recommended to use larger rawhide items and natural bones for your pups to meet with their chewing requirements.

When your puppy gets overly rambunctious and starts biting and chewing on you, you should handle the situation like his mom. You must let out a sound that allows him know it hurt and he will surely leave you.

If you want to maintain good relation with your puppy simply treat him as you treat your child.

If the pup cooperates you, it is recommended to appreciate his cooperation. You may also choose to assign a order like "no bite" or "no mouth", so he will move his behavior with your command. This technique work with the average, eager-to-please pup.

Some pups go out of hand soon. They keep on jumping and nipping, avoiding what is said to them. Things will quickly get out of control and someone could end up injured if not controlled. Smile if it is not your puppy!
